Château Mongiron

Set in the heart of the sea of vines between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers – in the so-called Entre-deux-Mers – lies Château Mongiron in the small town of Nérigean.

Libourne, the capital of the famous Pomerol appellation, is just 10 kilometres away on the other side of the river. On over 11 hectares, the most important grape varieties of the Bordelais are cultivated in harmony with nature: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, and the white Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris.

It is a young winery, founded by the Quéron family in 1956. Guillaume Quéron is the talented maître de chai. Thanks to Owen Hong’s takeover of the winery in 2018, necessary investments in infrastructure were made in recent years. The winery is currently enjoying a renaissance and is now one of the most modern in the region.

The wines are highly rated internationally (James Suckling 90 and 91 points for Prior 2018 and La Fleur 2018 respectively). They do not bear a classification like the famous and therefore expensive châteaux in the Bordelais. Instead, they captivate with their accessible character, soft texture and fullness of flavour, which make them immensely enjoyable to drink.
