Depuis 1882, Wegeler est synonyme d'excellence dans la viticulture allemande. Aujourd'hui, la quatrième génération dirige l'entreprise familiale en alliant tradition, clairvoyance et véritable passion, notamment pour le Riesling, complété par une petite proportion de Pinot Noir.
La couronne Assmannshausen, partenaire depuis 2007 et intégralement rattachée à Wegeler depuis 2014, constitue un atout particulier. En 1860, la cave encore utilisée aujourd'hui a été creusée à 60 mètres de profondeur dans la roche de Frankenthal, offrant ainsi des conditions parfaites pour la maturation de pinots noirs de première qualité. Les vignobles autour d'Assmannshausen, sur des schistes phyllitiques du Taunus altérés et un loess profond, sont représentatifs de la grandeur, de l'élégance et de la capacité de garde du vin rouge du Rheingau. Les Pinot Noirs séduisent par leur structure soyeuse, leur fine acidité et leur fruit plein de caractère.

De Toren is one of the first wineries in South Africa to producing classic Bordeaux-style wines. Since its foundation, the De Toren vision has been and remains the reinterpretation of the Bordeaux concept and to create unique South African wines from the five grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. We didn’t find the low house, dating from the 17th century, straight away, even though the village of Bouzy is not very large. Modest buildings are grouped around a courtyard, behind which a vineyard lies, similar to a clos.
